There are almost limitless things to do in Thun’s surroundings, the Bernese Oberland and even more, if you include whole Switzerland as your travel region! Facing this fact we decided to publish a pretour that leaves us the flexibility - join us on Sunday, 3rd June and we will explore Switzerland together! The Pretour program is a suggestion of daytrips with Thun figuring as base. We can change the program depending on weather conditions and participants interests. You will be guided by a RT 10 member from Thun.
- June 4th 2007, a panoramic Day
Visit of the famous Mountain Schilthorn. Here we enjoy a great lunch in the panoramic restaurant Piz Gloria. It offers a beautiful view, which spans from the Titlis, Jungfrau, Mönch, Eiger, over the Bernese Alps and the Jura mountains up to the Vogues and the Black Forest. On clear days you can also see the Mont Blanc in the south west. Afterwards we visit Mürren, the lovely mountain town known as host of the Lauberhorn ski race.
- June 5th 2007, Roundtrip Lucerne - Bern - Thun
To visit Lucerne with its lovely old city, the famous wooden Chapel Bridge and the beautiful lake is a must. You also shouldn’t miss Berne - the capital of Switzerland! The Old City of Bern is a UNESCO-World Heritage Site an offers nice gallery to stroll in front of shops, the federal square, and the cathedral and lots more!
June 6th 2007, A "Swiss Romande-Day"
Switzerland with its four official languages offers a variety of cultures. Escape with us to the west of Switzerland and enjoy the charm influenced by our neighbour-country France. Depending on your preferences we visit Geneva or Lausanne and Montreux. - June 7th 2007, Lake and City of Thun
Thun and its surroundings offer a wide range of activities! You will explore it during the official meeting but there will not be enough time to show you everyting. In addition we suggest you a day on Lake Thun (and Lake Brienz). Take the boat as far as you like, step out where ever you like and explore some of the many attractions around the lakes (for Example: Interlaken, Brienz, the Giessbach Waterfalls, St. Beatus Caves, the open air museum Ballenberg etc.)
Sportive alternatives
If you like to hike or even want to climb a nice mountain, there are infinite options. We can do a nice walk or organize even a mountain guide for a real climb! It depends on your wishes and your fitness. There are also many other options like sailing, golf, mountain biking etc. Just stay some more days in Thun and relax!
Costs of Pretour participation:
- Transportation (Swiss Travel Pass, 4 Days, 2nd Class) = CHF 217.--
- 4 Days Accommodation Hotel incl. breakfast (CHF 90.--/night) = CHF 280.--
- Meals, fees city tours, entry fees, etc. (around CHF 85.-/day) = CHF 253.--
Total costs Pretour per Person around CHF 750.--
The costs are calculated using public transport (see Swiss Travel System). Because Switzerland offers a great public transport system, this is a good choice if there are just a few participants for the pretour. If there will be around 8-10 participants or more, we will organize a mini bus to achieve more flexibility. Then the transportation costs will be lower (how much depends on how many participants will join us).
